Promoting major sporting events has been the strategy of many countries to attract and international attention . The economic benefits of this event portray an argument used to justify the effort and public spending to host such events,

the sports mega - events can pose as a catalyst for accelerated investment in key areas that should have occurred process.

Disadvantages

Despite large investments in the host cities and the planning of the crown, if there is not a prediction of use of infrastructure set up for the event , after the same , losses may occur to public coffers .

The rulers must take large expenditures for maintenance after the events of the structures , which despite spending being underused need these investments .

Events like the World Cup and Olympics may result in reduction of public funds for specific purposes such as health and education, which are used to build the necessary infrastructure for conducting sporting events,

if no inspection and audits by parts of organs responsible as prosecutors and Courts of Auditors , the poorest people will pay a high price for conducting such events .
